Tapping Your Creativity

As you know, everyone thinks differently.  If you were a math or science whiz in school, your teachers probably told you that you were left-brained, while your artsy counterparts were likely labeled as right-brained.  You may not think about these dispositions anymore, especially in a workplace where projects tend to be proceduralized and bureaucratic.  But you should be.

Why should I care?
Innovation is the key to future success, which might explain why Business Week recently devoted an entire issue to it.  Creativity in the workplace is essential for solving tough problems, seizing opportunities for growth, and launching new initiatives.  Breaking out of a routine and coming up with (let alone proposing) off the wall ideas can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be.

What can I do?
Most organizational leaders want innovation but fear the risk that comes with straying from the norm.  They crave creative voices but simply don’t know where to start when it comes to fostering creativity within their teams.  However, risk doesn’t have to be involved when leaders are able to nurture an open, creative environment where innovative ideas flourish.  That’s why we offer Be Your Creative Best, a leadership training seminar designed to teach you creativity-inspiring techniques and tools that can be easily applied to your business.

What will I gain?
Working in an open, creative environment allows you and your team to release your creative juices, explore new solutions to any type of problem, and create new products and services.  Flexing your creative muscles also gives you increased confidence in approaching whatever problems and opportunities you face (on and off the job).

Whether you’ve abandoned creative pursuits from long ago or never felt like you had it in you, now is the perfect time to learn how to amp up underlying creative potential – and we can show you how.

Exploring Your Creativity
Introduction to Creativity – What does it really mean to be creative?  Review different definitions of creativity and explore its professional applications.

Stepping Out of the Box – Identify creativity-killing boxes that can turn you into a drone so that you never get stuck in them again.

Practice Makes Perfect – Engage in a fun activity that shows you how each creativity-killing box stifles your thinking.  In this leadership training workshop, participants will  do exercises that teach you how to climb out of each box should you find yourself (or someone else) inside one in the future.

Thinking Creatively Through a Whole Brain Approach
Introduction to Brain Dominance – The Brain Dominance Profile reflects your thinking preferences.  This exercise lets you take a closer look at how you instinctively process information and make decisions.

The Whole Brain Model – Explore Ned Herrmann’s Whole Brain Model to better understand all four quadrants, not just your own.

Business Activities – Once you understand each of the four quadrants and which one best describes you, you’ll examine what kind of business tasks fit best with each preference.

Reframing Your Reality
Breaking the Mold – The first thing you’ll need to do is step out of traditional ways of viewing problems, tasks, even yourself!  Learn to identify patterns that hinder your creative capacity to start thinking (and acting!) creatively.

Collecting Ideas – Master processes like mind mapping and rainbow writing that help you generate and develop innovative options.

Focusing Thoughts – Learn techniques that improve your problem-solving and decision-making skills.  These techniques show you how to share your opinion about ideas (whether you love them or hate them) without being an idea killer.
